Cornrows are a traditional style of hair braiding originated from West Africa. To achieve this beautiful look, the hair is braided tightly to the scalp in a continuous, raised pattern. Cornrows can be produced using various techniques which result in a multitude of designs including straight, geometric, or curved styles. They’re often adorned with colorful beads or shells which enhance their beauty. When done by a skilled professional, cornrows generally last between 2 and 4 weeks.
How to Increase the Longevity of Your Cornrows
You can ensure the longevity of your cornrows by properly caring for your hair and scalp.
Although cornrows are beautiful, they can be damaging to the hair if not done correctly.
We make sure that cornrows are not braided too tight. Cornrows that are woven too tightly can pull the hair out from the roots, mostly around the edges.
Cornrows cannot be washed. Trying to wash your hair while it's cornrowed will make your cornrows unravel very quickly. When created properly at our salon, your cornrows should last 2 to 4 weeks. To help protect your new style, try by wrapping your head in a silk scarf each night when you go to bed. By doing this, you are avoiding the breakage that can be caused by cotton pillow cases. If your hair starts to get too frizzy, use a bit of gel before tying the scarf.
These simple tips will help you achieve great-looking cornrows that last. Ask any of our stylists about the suitable aftercare products.

Braids can be worn by women of all ages and races, and even those with only chin-lengthen hair can pull them off. They keep your hair neat, off your face when it's hot or humid, are perfect for sports, and can be worn during the day or evening.
Micro Braids
Micro Braids are a style of hair braiding more suited to short hair. Micro Braids are low maintenance and encourage hair growth.
Conflicting Micro Braids Terms
Micro Braids have been known to a much smaller extent as Invisible Braids. However, there is a distinct different between the two.
Invisible Braids Hair Braiding
Invisible braids are a subset of Micro Braids, in that they look like Micro Braids. However, at first glance, especially when looking at the back of the head and sides of the Invisible Braids, one thinks it is a weave!
When one looks at the front of the Invisible Braids however, (the frontal section of the wearers face), one sees that it is definitely Invisible Braids instead. Invisible Braids are not braided as long as Micro Braids are. In fact, if you are a working class or student, we recommend Invisible Braids. Swim, or wash Invisible Braids done the right way as often as you want.
With our maintenance plan, your invisible Braids and Micro Braids stay healthy, brand new, and yes...still can turn heads!
Single Braids
Single Braids generally suit longer hair and are braided in small sections from the scalp right out to the ends, without picking up more hair on the way.
Classic Braid
A Classic Braid consists of a single hair braid on each side of the head. One of the benefits of the classic braid is that with a little practice you can put the braid in your own hair.
French Braiding
French Braiding or French Plaiting is a style of hair braiding that also suits medium to long hair. It consists of a single hair braid at the back of the head that appears to fold in on itself to create a very sleek and stylish look.
Facts about Braids
More often than not, people tend to think that the moment they put braids extensions in their hair, it will automatically grow their hair and they don't have to do any thing else. Truth is, this is the best time to take care of your hair naturally and still wear extensions. It's pointless to wear braids for 3 months only to realize that the situation and condition of your hair is more or less the same if not worst, especially if the motive for braiding is to improve the overall well being of your hair and to take a break from all forms of hair chemicals. We suggest the following steps to a healthy braids wearing and to achieve happiness/satisfaction once the braids are out. 1: Before braiding - Deep condition your hair a day before applying the extensions. Continue to deep condition your hair even when you have the braids in at least once in 2 weeks. We suggest you use our recommended conditioner that is rich in protein. 2: Chemicals - Sometimes other braiders will tell you that relaxing your hair just before braiding will make your braids neater and more presentable. Truth is the neatness of your braids depends on how good the braider is at parting the hair and more often than not, the length of your own hair. Very short hair tends to come out of braids whilst longer hair stay put. 3: Washing/shampooing - Wash your braids once in 2 weeks. This is very good for your hair as it allows your hair to rest from the chemical contents in shampoos even though some shampoo products say they have little chemical contents, Our advice is, it's better to be safe than sorry. Washing your braids every two weeks will allow the braids to retain their strength and reduce early rough appearance. We must say that braids are one of the very few hair styles that even when it's rough it's still beautiful. Ask our stylists for the best shampoo. 4: Treat your natural hair below the braids extensions - Coconut oil helps softens yet strengthen and promotes your under growth. It also promotes hair growth. Coconut oil is as strong and solid as coconut itself. You can also use our braid sprays available in store .Always oil your scalp at least 3 times a week to retain moisture and prevent flaky scalps or dandruffs.
We highly recommend Virgin hair fertilizer for its ability to soften, strengthen and increase hair growth.
